My
name is Jenny Lockwood. I've been teaching since 2004. Prior to
coming to Springdale Park in 2011, I taught at Centennial Place Elementary. I
have taught 1st through 4th grades. I have also taken on
roles as a Mathematics Instructional Coach and interim Challenge teacher. Prior
to becoming a certified teacher, I was a paraprofessional for Kindergarten and
3rd grade, as well as, a substitute with Kindergarten to 5th
grade for 3 years.
I
hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters of
Education degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West
Georgia in Carrollton. I earned a Specialist degree in Early Childhood Education
from Georgia State University. I have also earned my Gifted, Mathematics, Reading , Teacher Support
Specialist, and Teacher Leader endorsements. I am committed to being a lifelong
learner and hope to foster the love of learning within your children.
In the 2013, I won an Atlanta Families' Award for Excellence in Education. This award allowed me to purchase materials related to STEAM education. I look forwarding to teaching STEAM lessons this school year.
During
my personal time, I enjoy traveling, reading, photography, crafting, attending
indie rock concerts, going to Georgia Tech sporting events, and most importantly, spending time iwth my family and friends. I have four nieces who I absolutely adore. This past
summer, I went to Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and Michigan. I enjoy going to different
places and learning about history and culture. I look forward to sharing my
memories and souvenirs within our studies. My husband, Billy, is a Georgia Tech
graduate who works in the sales operations department at Delta Air Lines. He enjoys
volunteering in the community and reading to the students when he gets the
opportunity. Billy and I have one dog named Burdell. He is currently our only
“child”.
