Relative Pronouns

Do you remember relative pronouns? What are they? How do you use them? If you need to review, check the Relative Pronouns Prezi.

Now, try using relative pronouns in your writing. Write a story (it can be real or made-up) about visiting an ecosystem. Some information to include: animals, food webs, people you traveled with, and what you saw. In your writing, use relative pronouns (who, where, that, which, those).

Blog Rules 1. Use educational language and writing. 2. Write only positive comments that are related to the topic to other students. 3. Use only your first name.

***If you are not able to post to the blog, please complete the assignment on notebook paper and turn in tomorrow.***

  2. Once I was visiting Philadelphia. My teacher, whose name was Ms. Stoufer, was the only person with me. In Philadelphia, we explored the ecosystems of the city. For example, we went down to the docks and listed the fish, birds, and water at the river. We also figured out exactly who was polluting the dock's waters. We also counted the amount of sparrows in Philly. Our visit to Philadelphia was really fun!

  3. One day I went Disney World. I went with my brother, who is four and I went with my mom, who is 32. I asked my brother which is his favorite super hero, and he said Iron Man. My mom wanted to go on all the rides so she always asked "Where do you want to go next?"My favorite rides were those rides in Animal Kingdom. My favorite ride is Splash Moutain, it is that ride that splashes you at the end. Disney World was great, I cannot wait to go next summer!

  4. Ken, who was from Tennessee, went to the Smoky Mountains. One day while she was there, she went hiking. One of the animals she saw on her hike was a baby black bear. Then she saw a mamma bear coming toward the baby. The hikers that were with her knew what to do. So they slowly walked away. One of the hikers said, "that bear is one of the 12 bears that he had seen on the hike". Another hiker, who has been in a bear accident before, knew the 12 bear's names.
On their way to the top of the mountain, they saw a fox, which was very furry. On top of the mountain a hawk flew over them. Back down the mountain the hiking group went swimming in the river. As they were swimming, they saw big fish. This ended the hike, they all went home tired.

  5. Once there was a prince WHO loved to fly on Jovian Airlines. THAT prince was flying in first class. The flight attendant came to give him a salted water. The prince, WHO ate or drunk anything salty, ate ten salted peaches every hour. THAT time came to get off the flight. The prince went to the doctor, who told him that the price was allergic to salt. That is why princes do not eat ten salted peaches every hour.

They were on their way to the island they had traveled by boat because there was an ocean between them and the island. Two days later when they are leaving the island... That was a good trip we should do this more often. THE END

  7. Once I visited the Okeefonokee swamp with my class.I saw many animals. What kind you ask? I saw a few lizards, birds, and fish. When I saw a eagle swoop down from a perch to eat it, it reminded me of food chains. Food chains are pictures that shows where energy is flowing between two or more producers, consumers and decomposers, that is what food chains are. Another name for a food chain is a food web. Those animals are very picky about there food!

    1. Once upon a time, there was a girl that wanted to go on an adventure. Her name was Liliana, WHICH is a pretty long name. So, everybody called her Lili.In class, she had learned about ecosystems and she wanted to see one for herself." Maybe I will go to a desert THAT has lots of cacti I can take pictures of for my assignment", she said.So the very next day, she went and got her best friend, Hannah, WHO was a photographer. During the car ride, she thought about the animals that she was going to see (tarantula, the sidewinder snake, and the kangaroo.) and the food webs to connect them (the sidewinder eats mice, rats, lizards, and birds). When they got to WHERE they were going, Hannah saw lots of THOSE organisms to take pictures of and ran off. Lili saw lots of things crawling around, which was interesting because it was daytime, and animals don't usually come out. By the end of the day, she had the best day ever.

  8. I once went to Hogwarts which was pretty cool since I went with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. We visited Hagrid's hut. He gave us rock cakes which tasted like rocks. We excused are selves before he could give us anymore. We tossed the rock cakes we hid in our pockets into the forest that was all of them. we went a bunch of other places like the quidditch court. But my favorite was when we had lunch which was cool because all of the food was floating. We flew home on broomsticks which was exciting because I had never flown before. And that was my time at Hogwarts.

  9. Costa Rica - A true story

In the winter of 2011, I went to Costa Rica. Costa Rica has many jungles and damp spots. When I was there, my family was hiking in the cool, multi-layered jungle where we saw some amazing things. We were hiking when we found little pieces of leaves walking like they had little feet. I observed them closer and I found that they were leaf cutter ants carrying leaves back to their anthill. I was amazed at how many there were scuttling up the hill and how they walked in a neat line. After that amazing sight, we hiked to a very high bridge, which if you looked down would make you dizzy. When we crossed it, I looked down and could only see the tops of trees. My little brother was so scared that he didn’t look down once. Costa Rican forests are amazing to see in real life.

  11. Once I visited the Okefenokee swamp with my uncle, whom is my dads brother. While we were there we went fishing. An American eel, who likes to eat worms, jumped out of the water and grabbed my worm on my fishing rod. When that happened I thought of food chains. The arrows in a food chain show where the energy is flowing. The food chain /food web always start with producers.ryan

  12. One year, I went to the mountains of Colorado with Jessica. We stayed in a small cabin that was on the edge of the mountains. The ecosystem was cool and cloudy, which made me think about all of the food chains and food webs in the mountains. For example, wolves eat rabbits, which eat grass. Whenever we hiked, I always thought of my grandmother, who loves nature. I took lots of pictures that I showed to my grandmother when I returned. I had a great time in the mountains!

  13. Once, there was an alien who was named Welcursen. Welcursen was the smartest Piguimayus Eienstienius known to Piguimayus kind. The Piguimayus Eiensteinius on average had an IQ of 999,999,999,999,999,999 quadrillion. However, that would be for most of them. Welcursen was a lot smarter than that, at least by 15 billion. One thing Welcursen did not know, however, was how his home planet, Retipuj's ecosystems worked. He knew which lived where, like a Namuh or a Noil would live in a desert area, while a Hsif or a Niugnep would live in the Arctic and Antarctic, as would a fish or a penguin or in the desert as a lion or lizard of our planet. Welcursen wanted to know how those ecosystems and others worked. Because he was so smart, he taught a college science class. When summer break came around, he wondered where he would go on vacation. He decided to go to Earth, to ask anyone who would listen to him to teach him about ecosystems. A few days later, he went to Earth to learn about ecosystems. Welcursen went to an elementary school to a fourth grade class, Mrs. Lockwood's class. In there, he learned about Earth's ecosystems and how biotic organisms needed to live in that exact place and the abiotic organisms that could also serve as ecosystems. As he was learning, he thought of home and how he could never imagine that a Niugnep would be in the desert or that a Noil would in the Arctic. When it was time to go back home, he went back home thinking that if Earth's ecosystems worked in the way they did, the ecosystems of Retipuj would surely work in the same way. When he got back home, he wondered where he would study his facts. When he went back to the college where he taught, he taught the college students, who happened to be thumb-wrestling each other and making paper planes and throwing stars. When he yelled for order, the students that were playing suddenly snapped to attention. He told them about ecosystems, and when he finished, one of his attentive students asked why he was not the supreme ruler of the planet if he was so smart. Welcursen thought about this inquiry for 2 weeks, and when he was certain of his answer, he asked the president, who was busy planning a conference in Georgia, where he would prove to the U.S. Government that the Piguimayus Eienstienius were not a threat to the world of Earth, why he wasn't the chief executive of the planet. The president laughed for a while and told Welcursen that he could be the supreme ruler while he was gone. Welcursen agreed to this and taught everyone on the planet about ecosystems. He finally moved on to become Master of the Universe. He ruled as a just king and gave everyone what they needed.

  14. [This never happened] Once I went to a rainforest with my parents who paid for the trip. There was a harpy eagle that ate a sloth. The sloth ate leaves that gave it little energy, so the sloth was slow. Other animals like spider monkeys ate fruit which gave them lots of energy. There are beetles and moths that live on the sloth which eat the algae on the sloth.
